In this video I explain why you need to be bothered with a compliant Privacy Policy even if you do not reside or conduct business in Europe under the GDPR laws.

The information I discuss in the video connects the dots between the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR and your responsibility as a business owner. Should a breach occur as a result of a website visitor from Europe, you still have obligations. Even if you did not actively market to them. GDPR captures all businesses who may or may not be directly and actively marketing to people located in the EU.
Remember that every time your website captures a cookie from a visitor, you are collecting IP information. This is private information about your website visitor and therefore protected under the GDPR.
This is the reason that you need to have a GDPR compliant Privacy Policy
